Visual Elements

Traditional media and digital illustration bring versatility to visual element design. Drawing skill requires keen observation and attention to detail. It trains a discerning eye for composition, image compositing and correction, the impact of light and shadow on color and surface texture, and interesting visual effects. I leverage my drawing skills for the vision, style, emotion and tone of a project in working with designers, photoshop artists, photographers, motion graphic artists and illustrators. Drawing skills enables thumbnail sketching as a time-saving approach to communicate just enough nuance for design ideas and content organization. Illustration experience also enables effective prompting and refining control of generative AI image tools.

Product Packaging Illustration (hypothetical snack)—Marker Brush Style

ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) videos have grown in popularity, broadening understanding and appreciation of the sensory experience. The packaging design taps that enthusiasm by marketing natural freeze dried fruit snacks as providing a satisfying crisp. Snacks that are better because they're "noisy" lends playfulness and humorous potential for campaign concepts. The marker brush-against-white imparts a visual "crispness" that cues a more wholesome, less processed, snack option with vibrant eye-catching color.

Product Packaging Illustration (hypothetical winery)—Watercolor Style

"Filligree" and "trellis" are overlapping terms for interweaving delicate patterns and crisscross latticework for growing vines. The overlap is captured in the visual aesthetic for an herbal/fruity white wine collection. Luminous watercolor pigments blend and mix to reflect flavor-infused wine.
